Summer is a time for outdoor activities, but it's also a time when fire hazards increase.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, from 2014 to 2018, an average of 19,700 wildfires occurred each year during the summer months in the United States, resulting in an average of 53,000 acres burned per year.
In the states of Alabama and Georgia, the numbers are also concerning. In Alabama alone, there were 1,884 wildfires in 2020, resulting in over 3,000 acres burned. In Georgia, there were 1,832 wildfires in 2020, resulting in over 6,000 acres burned.
